Default GPS Navigation while driving question

Does anyone know of a way to make the entering of addresses or points of interests work while the vehicle is moving with the navigation system that comes with the MyGig 430N RHB radio? All I can find is that I have to purchase a lockpick or some other type of aftermarket device. Thanks

I'm not sure about the RHB, but with the RER that came with the '09, I was able to buy a mic from Mopar that plugged into the back and activate the mic through the diagnostic menu. It also allows you to operate your radio with voice commands and use your Bluetooth enabled phone.

If you search uconnect mic or RER mic, you can find how to activate it with the RER and maybe discover it will work on the RHB.

Good luck.

I have the 430N in my Grand Cherokee and unfortunately, voice navigation does not work with the 430N...only the 730N.

I believe this works with some aftermarket units I'm not sure about stock radios but it has to be possible because the lockpick probably works by tricking the stock radio into thinking the vehicle is parked and the brake is on. Another way that some guys bypass the restrictions is by using a relay. Check out avic411.com for the various ways of bypassing radios. I guess the trick would be to find the speed sensor wire (VSS) or the hand brake sensor wire and either grounding it or using the relay method.

Thanks everyone. Definately some alternatives to contemplate. Of course I could just put my old Nuvi in the Jeep and not worry about it. Plus, my Nuvi is updated 4 times a year. The stock Nav seems to be outdated but the Chrysler site to check still says no updates available. Go figure.....

I've been thinking about trying this. When I installed my aftermarket NAV system into my Yaris (Ya I upgraded to a Jeep muahaha), all I did was combine the ground wire and E-brake wire. This made it a permanent ground and Voila! You could use it anytime, anywhere and could even allow for passengers to watch movies while in motion. I just haven't taken the time to try and figure out how to get the stock NAV system out of my Jeep to try this.
