Default Gracenote advice

I got a used MyGig off the net and installed it in my JK. I tried importing a CD onto the HD (which worked perfectly) but the software on the unit did not detect the track name, genre, album, etc. like it is supposed to do.

Is there an update to get the Gracenote or something? What am I doing wrong?

http://www.mofv.com/MyGIG/

Use this web site to download both the MyGig updates and the Gracenote update. The newer version of Gracenotes started reading some of my older CD's, so maybe this will help for you too.

Just glad I can help some fellow Jeepers just as I have been helped by others.

Ordered my JK six weeks ago and finally got it yesterday. Downloaded my first CD onto the HD and it doesn't recognize artist or track names. Does anyone know if its possible to just enter the artist and track number info myself, or is getting a gracenote update the only way for it not to read UNKNOWN?

Thanks for any advice, and great site.

I'm pretty certain a Gracenotes update is required and keep in mind, depending on how new it it, it may not recognize it.

You could rip teh CD on a Mac/PC and then either grab the trck/album info from the internet, or manually enter it in the Mac/PC software. The transfer the music to MyGIG with USB device.

Hope that helps!

BTW - I still can't get the album track order right doing it this way...

You can also import them as "track1" etc, then go to edit "playlists" and it will let you rename everything.
BUt that's kind of a royal PITA. Much easier to just rip on pc, copy to usb, and go from there.

Rip the tracks to your PC. Then upload to a usb drive or burn to a cd then upload to the mygig harddrive and will always show correctly.
