Default Hard Wire Zune HD

Hey, everyone. I am looking to mount a Zune HD on the dash, and have a hard wired dock connector for power and audio input. So far I have found this,

http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundcrzn4.html

but it doesn't explicitly list the JK wrangler. I would think they audio system would be the same as in other Jeep models that year, but I'm not sure. I'm not so concerned with controlling the Zune through the stereo system controls, since I will be mounting it well within easy reach. Just the power and line out are important.

Does anyone know if this works with the JK, or even better has anyone used it? BTW, I have an '07 with the factory "upgraded" Infinity system (no mygig).

Thanks.

Cool idea, I'll keep an eye on this one.

I want to put it right between the two vents in the center just below the head unit using a Bracketron mount that will allow it to be positioned veritically or horizontally as necessary.

I can tell you several things. First, a Grand Cherokee doesn't have the same radio/sound system as in the JK (I have a 2006 GC and the same 2007 JK as you with Infinity sound). Second, my Zune (and now iPhone) have been far easier and cheaper than that device you listed. A Bracketron bracket with a 6" stereo cable and a Belkin USB cigarette lighter adapter, combined with the Zune/iPhone power cord.

These:

And a review:

By the way, this Belkin USB "nub" is the sweetest thing. I haven't found it at any JK-Forum advertisers, so no purchase links, sorry. If someone can post one from the advertisers/supporters I'll buy them through that link. I think I've given away a half dozen so far.

The stereo cable auxiliary input is what I am currently using and it's great for something quick and temporary, but it is not really a solution for me. I am looking for a line level input for the stereo, bypassing the zune's headphone amp. Also, I never have the roof, windows, or doors on and don't want to have to turn the zune's volume up to maximum in order to hear it.

I do have one of those little cigarette lighter USB plugs, and it's great being able to charge any kind of USB device right there. Mine is by Rocket Fish, I think.

I received a response from Soundgate, and they say the item I linked to in the first post will not work. They also don't have anything that will.

I'm still looking for something that will work. After all, there is a line level adapter for ipods, so it must be possible.

Did they say why it wouldn't work? Or, more directly, is the Zune interface the same as the Zune HD? That product was for the Zune, and I didn't see that it mentioned the Zune HD.

BTW: I love my Zune, though I don't take it in the Jeep. Mine is docked as the main audio source for my home sound system. It's especially cool to have someone over who prefers an iPod and to ask them who their favorite artist is. I say something like, "I never heard of them, but ..." (Note: I don't listen to popular radio so haven't kept up at all with current radio artists). I then search on the artist and hit play all. They're like, "Wow! That's so cool!" Then I show them DJ Mix and they're speechless. ZUNES ROCK!

with my old zune what I did was use the home dock and run it into the mygig aux-in so I could see the menu while I went thru the zune. I dont have it anymore since it got stolen, but I was going to do next time was use home kit again or the a car kit i saw online with a remote and wire it in. But for now I havent pulled the trigger since my current phone has a video out and I hook up sometimes instead, if the mygig had more inputs I would buy another zune. Till then Im waiting to get a a/v controller for the mygig.

They didn't say why it wouldn't work. I have asked them, though. As for the Zune / Zune HD, the dock that I have works with older Zunes, so I'm pretty sure they use the same connection.

I'd love to just use the dock.

Is there an RCA input on the REQ stereo?

I don't think there is, but I haven't looked back there yet. I found this, http://www.neocaraudio.com/product_i...oducts_id=1094 which is not what I want, but the website says it's compatible with an '07 Jeep Wrangler, and it connects via RCA...
If that is correct, using the dock via RCA would be an acceptable solution.
