Default Headlight Issue

Hey guys, it's been awhile since I got rid of the WK2 and I'm finally back to a jeep again. I recently got a used 2011 JKU Sahara. Everything is great on it but I have 1 issue. Every so often the passenger headlight doesn't work just won't turn on. Now you'd think it was the bulb... Well I replaced both bulbs and it's still doing it on the passenger side only the bulb will just stay out for a bit. I come back to the car and then it works fine... Any ideas why this is happening?

I suspect a bad housing or a bad ground. If it is not the housing then start tracing the wires for a loose connection. Intermittent are the worst to find.

Good luck and welcome! Nice looking rig!

I'm not so experienced with electrical but how would I test for a bad ground? Also could it mean that connector needs replacement or?

Anything is possible. I would start by just eye balling everything. Make sure the pins are seated in the connector. Make sure the connector is seated on the lamp etc.. Follow the wires back and make sure the ground connection isn't loose. I suspect ground because a loose or shorted power wire is more like to cause a fuse to blow.

So I had a moment and saw the headlight out again, I reached under the grill and started pushing the headlight wires around and the headlight came back on but shut off after I hit a bump so must be the connector or something, it must be what you suggested. I'll poke around when I have more time and report back.

On my 2012 JK the passenger side has done this on and off ever since I owned it. While it was under warranty, no dealer found anything wrong. Just the passenger side shut itself off, never the drivers side. When I upgraded with a rally wiring harness, and H4 glass headlights. I extended the trigger harness to the driver side. Off-road H4 bulbs, and haven't had had an issue. I am guessing it is just the electronic CAN BUS computer doing the funky stuff that computers do.
