Headlight Issues When Replaced Stock With LED
I apologize if this thread already exists, but I couldn't find a problem exactly like mine.
I have a Wrangler JK Sport 2011 with standard transmission. I recently replaced my stock 7" headlight with new LED lights. The replacement was easy and came with an adaptor for the new lights. My current LED light has an extra wire to connect the outer ring directly to the fuse box. This outer ring should be on at all times when the jeep is running. After I installed the following situation occurs:
Does anyone see this issue before? any advice to troubleshoot this? |
I have had weird issues when doing this but not like this. I would call the manufacturer? Mine sent me new headlight assemblies but that didn't resolve the problem. They offered a full refund as well. I called Diode Dynamics and they were very helpful with me even though I did not buy my headlights from them! I ended up getting a little module (really just adding resistance) from Diode Dynamics to fix my issues. Good luck!

Just to understand better. Your headlights are not from Diode Dynamics, but they were able to help you out?
I will contact my supplier again (not luck in the first couple of times), then I will try the Diode Dynamics option. Thanks. |
Yes that is correct! They were very helpful. This is the link to the module but I would talk with them first to see what they say. https://www.diodedynamics.com/dodge-hyperblink-fix-pair.html

Your Daytime running lights are programmed to your highbeams, this is the default. With a programmer you can disable The DTR or move it to the parking lights or fog lights.

My LED install saw my DRL turning the low beams on not high. Otherwise people will flash you even in the daytime. I do not have the extra wires and I only had the standard 3 wire connection with adapter cords so absolutely no issues ever with them. Don't have any use for halo rings etc so don't pay to have them myself and, unless you spend a lot of money on aftermarket lights, a lot seem to have issues with them.

Thank everyone for the insights and tips. I was able to solve the problem. It seems that as per @Jeff Pillsworth comment the high beam was programmed into my DRL.
I already had an OBDII, but my current program didn't have this option, hence why I was struggling. I downloaded a new software (OBD JScan) which worked perfectly. |
I had this same problem. First, I bought a Procal device to program the JK to only turn signals for drl, that resolved the headlights being on all the time.
second, I wired the halo control box into my turn signal wiring. Now my halos are on whenever my turn signal lights (drl) are on. your halo light control wiring should have 2 wires for turn signal and an extension wire, since the control box will likely be on one side of the jk and need to reach the turn signal wire on the other side. Wire black to turn signal black, red to turn signal power (white with green stripe) and turn signal wire to white with red stripe. in Canada and several states, law requires vehicles in operation to have headlights on at all times. Totally programmable, but requires that procal device (approx $250) Works perfectly. |
