Default Hella 500FF instructions

Getting ready to wire up my Jeep this weekend- after pouring through various searches here, I see that others have had issues with Hella instructions so I wanted to clarify something. They show using a scotch-lock type connector going on to the highbeam lead. That get's me power to trigger the relay, so I don't have to jerry-rig something into the fuse box, correct? This way the lights will only work when the highbeams are on.

Further into the instructions, it says "if the lamps illuminate with the high beam and low beam, connect the blue wire on the relay to the earth wire for the high beam". I'm guessing that means the lights will work whenever the headlights are on at all, correct? That's what I want, but before I go butchering my nice new Susquehanna harness I'm installing at the same time I wanted to confirm. Basically, you're tying the ground for the lights into the ground for the headlights. Am I on the right path or am I setting myself up for an epic fail?

I like to have mine on whenever I want so I wired my trigger directly to the battery. Yes, the blue is the ground.
