I bought one of these bases that are supposed to make it easy to fit an amp under the passenger seat. I can't figure out how it goes in. It seems too short to mount lengthwise between the seat rails if it's intended to be screwed into the floor, and too long to fit sideways; If anyone else has one, and took some pictures, I'd love to see them. The pictures in the ads all seem to be the same and don't seem to be from a JK, although all sellers claim these fit. Obviously there were no directions included. FYI - I'm driving a 2007 JKU, so I know I might need to trim a bit for the seat wiring, but even still I can't see it fitting.
Thoughts? Which way is up? Which edge is the front? Where does it attach?
I contacted the vendor, and they said to "see if you can find a video online"... Of course there are none.
Here's the problem. The first picture is a photo of somebody's install from 2013. The second photo is of my seat rails. You can see I have some hardware in the way that they don't have (the yellow circled areas). I could cut the bracket down to fit under them, but this is hardly the "plug and play" solution it is advertised. If I do cut it down, I need to cut quite a bit, because there is only two inches clearance at the back. For the larger bracket, I almost certainly have to relocate the plugs under the amp shelf and cut out the bracket, since leaving it in place would not leave me much room to put an amp. Looks like you are gonna have to do some trimming to make the install work.
I mounted two HAM radio units under my passenger seat (I think each one was pretty close to the size of your unit) - and the bracket / tray I made for the install was only a fraction of the size that your bracket is.
Have a look at my HAM radio install post - it may give you some ideas as to what to do with your bracket.
Maybe the solution is to pick up a Corbeau seat bracket for the passenger side (that’s what I used) - that would give you TONS of room to mount your gear.
It looks like you have the seat & bracket apart already, so you are half way there !
That forward bracket looks like you will have to cut it off and reposition somehow for that mounting base to work. After looking at your post again, mine does not have the added brackets that yours has which made it a lot easier.
