Help: LEDs in the footwells of a 2012 by tapping into the dome light.
I would do this though:
Disconnect the battery (Don't want to blow a fuse)
Splice into yellow wire with white tracer in the passenger side rocker panel with your (+) wire to your LEDs (You can daisy chain-- no need for a splice to each individual LED)
In the passenger side floor board, near where your door connects you will have a grounding screw that your door harness is grounded to. 10mm nut, take it off... place your (-) wire from your LEDs there.
Reconnect your battery
Done
That should do the trick!
Yeah, yellow wire with white tracer- I just added a camaro rear-view mirror w/ map lights in my JK... so I could have some lights up front, the dome behind me just wasn't doing the trick...

Ok as I said I'd post pics. Just in case it matters my jeep is a 2012 JKU sport s. here are the 2 easiest spots to get access to the wires. One in front passenger foot well just behind the kick panel. That pulls right off with light pressure. There's also ground right there if you need it. The other is in back passenger area and you can just pull the carpet back. I had 2 wires there that looked the same and acted the same.

I installed blue LED light strips in my 2012's footwells and wired them to the dimmer circuit (tapped the dimmer wire behind the power window controls) so they come on and off with the running/instrument lights, and can be dimmed with the dimmer control on the column. Works great!

That's kinda the same thing I just finished doing. I put my home link mirror from my 350Z in my JK. I didn't even use the dome light wires though. I needed ignition switch power for the mirror. I didn't want to have to turn on the dome light every time I went to open the garage door. I ran the wires back through the firewall and grounded at the battery and power from an open ignition fuse slot in the tipm. I wasn't planning on doing that so right now it's a crude connection until tomorrow. My mirror works now though and I'm happy with it.
