Help requested: Driver side tail light issue
I am loosing my mind. I got the "turn signal bulb out" signal, so I went to my local auto parts store and grabbed some new bulbs. When I was testing the left turn signal I noticed that both reverse lights were flashing as well. I tried the right side and everything was normal. Hit the brakes and my reverse lights were on as well on both sides. God knows how long I have been driving like this. I am sure I have given some people a scare since my reverse lights come on when I hit the brakes, but no one has ever stopped me or notified me. Here comes the frustrating part.
I checked all of the connections looking for a bad ground and I couldn't find anything on either side. I disconnected the tow wiring harness and same issue. I checked all of the fuses just to be sure and everything looked ok. I replaced all 4 bulbs with brand new ones and same issue. I've torn apart the trunk of my jeep looking for a loose connection. I searched the forums and read that someone had tail light issues when they removed their rear seats. I am not sure how this would be a grounding issue, but I made sure all bolts were there and tightened. Is there something I am missing that I need to check before I drop it off at the dealership? Thanks in advance!

Strange behaviors with exterior lights are often grounding issues. With improper ground connections, the power can seek a path through other filaments that share a common ground.
With my most recent blinker/park light issue, I found the bad ground connection was in the wire harness connector at the light fixture.
Probing the ground pin in the wire harness connector showed no continuity with the body.
Probing the ground wire (through the insulation) where it leaves the connector showed good continuity with the body. The break was where the wire connects to the pin in the connector.
I remember reading about a tail light issue after working in the area of the front and rear seats. It turned out there is a tail light ground lug somewhere in that area, on the driver's side floor.
Hope this helps you.
