Default Help with upgrading head unit

My 2013 jk came with the 130 headunit and does not have connectivity option I'm assuming its the most base unit you can get because everything else on my jeep is. A member on here is selling a 130 unit that's a step up from mine with a uconnect module. Basically all I want is to be able to connect my iphone to the head unit with Bluetooth to stream music (I don't care too much about making calls or other features with the unit). Will this be all I need to upgrade or are more pieces required? Thanks for the help

Another option is an after-market bluetooth adapter, assuming your existing unit has an aux input. I added the Kinivo BTC450 to my Jeep and the bluetooth works great (and I get hands-free for the phone). I also did the aux jack relocation to the rear of the headunit (search the forum for details) and embedded all but the mic/controller in the dash, so its pretty hidden. I did have to add a ground loop isolator (another $10) to get rid of some hum when the engine was running, but now it works/sounds great.

Bad thing about this is that no cables are included. By the time you buy the extra harnesses and such, it's going to drive the code way up. You would honestly be better served to pickup a Mopar UConnect kit and the USB cable for it as well as a used stereo with the UConnect buttons if you want to keep it stock.

Sounds like a good deal but like Jwilson said find out how much the cable is before you buy it.

I'd personally recommend getting an aftermarket head unit if you're going to spend any money on changing any parts out. All the stock ones are garbage and not worth investing in, in my opinion. I picked up a Clarion CX501 and it's awesome for $150 and matches the Jeep perfectly. Also offers bluetooth phone pairing, streaming, USB in etc. and you can match the LED's to exactly the same colour as the Jeeps...
