Default horn blows when door is open ??

Jeep JKU 2010, had a few thousand mile on it, when new I added wench, rack, lights, a few years went by and last years this time I added gear change and locker , over the last year not a problem till lately,

In the morning when I open my door the horn blows! Why ?

If alarm is set and I up lock it with remote (factory remote) windshield wiper move or jump both front and rear. Why?

over the last few week I have found my Optima batteries Dead . over the weekend it happen again. I have been able to charge them and save them , but I cant understand why all this happening ..

What I have found and done.

I have check the running voltage at 17 volts not running battery has 13.5 volts so it appears we getting 3.5 volts running .. if I pull the positive connection and jeep dies. I can idle it up to 1200 rpm and it will run but still get 3.5 volts output when tested.

what I have done is this, I let batteries sit to see if voltage in battery drops. over 8 hours it hasn't. (still 13.5 volts) tomorrow night I will hook up alternator and see if it drains batteries if first test is still ok and batteries have 13.5 volts ..

My biggest concern is why is the horn beeping when door it open, and when unlocking the jeep the wiper jump .. I haven't added any thing , or change anything .. in a years now .. last thing added was Pinion & ring gears & lockers a year ago .. haven't had a problem with anything over the last 5 years I have had JKU.. runs like a top till lately ..

Help Please if possible.. thank You.

Those are common issues with the batteries you seemed to gave addressed. Have you checked to see that you're terminals are tight as well?

.....I've been around here just as long as you have, no need to get snippy. Nobody gives two shits about how many posts anyone has. I'm more concerned with my number of miles, trouble-free miles at that. I'm at 145k with no honk when I open my door- hope that was useful enough for you.

17 volts is way too high. That will cook a battery if that is what you have all the time the engine is running.
Seeing the engine die when you pull the battery lead is normal. With the absence of battery voltage, the PCM cuts the field voltage. The alternator will not supply the vehicle's needs without a battery in the system.
The rest of the behavior you are seeing could be related to your possibly cooked battery.

Thank You , not sure about cook battery, it holding 13.5 volts for the last 32 hours.

Just hook it up, looking to see if alternator drains it over the next 24 hours..

I taking the time to see if something is draining the battery.. over the next few day I will unhook and hook-up different components to see if something has a short..

got battery 6 months after I bought the jeep , sticker claims 6/11 , so its old.. but I still think its good.. if all fails I buy tester to finish it all off..

thanks for your help you as of yet are the only one to offer help ... Thank you ..

You must be out of your damn mind. People were trying to help you but you're a genius. Best of luck with your vehicle, hopefully you don't run into any other issues that the 'dummies' here won't be able to help you with.

People (like you) suck

First off when unlocking or opening any door on my jeep the horn would sound. what ever was going is also killed my battery, so thinking my alternator was bad I took it down to auto zone where the hook it up to a machine that rotated it and place it under a load .. there was three levels for the test , first under light load 40 amps, then next load was 90 amps , last test was under full load pushing 150 amps.. alternator out put was find the next test was fro short ,, it all check out find and in good working order ,, it has 69,000 miles and still working fine. now I called the dealer and spoke there their jeep specialist... right away he said you have a short or over draw somewhere. and once I locate the problem should self correct.. his suggestion was to check all add-on components . . What I found was the solenoid on wench was bad , thou it show in the off position it was short out and pulling down the battery down ... I called for a new one it was ship . during this time I'm driving my jeep , no horn sound and any problems with battery .. everything is work great .. Tuesday I got new switch , place it on jeep , no problems , no horn blow and third day now still have strong battery no horn blowing . . problem was switch was bad on wench causing a over draw on battery and the jeep was sounding to let me know it was happening ... To bad none of you Jeep JK experts knew that .. Well thank you for your outpour of help with my problem LOL .. and from my hard work you dummies know !!!
So if we are counting posts I will gladly say this is my 4th and with my 4th post I proudly say.... That guy is a Dick!
