Default Horn switch array testing

Have an '08 JKU and the horn doesn't work with the steering wheel but does with the key remote when locking doors or using the panic button. No airbag light on and cruise control and turn signals work perfectly, so I don't believe it to be the clock spring, but can't confirm that til I eliminate the possibility of it being the horn switch array first (Mopar part# 68003477AA). What would be the correct/best way to test the switch array and connector on the steering wheel? I don't have any piercing probes for my multimeter or I would just stab the wires between the array and the connector and look at resistance and voltage on each wire while depressing each of the four "buttons". That may not be the correct way but it's all I can come up with since wiring has always been something I shied away from, and never learned much on it. Anyway, since I don't have piercing probes is there a way to check the connector pins with the switch array unplugged? Or, simply, how DO I test the switch itself so I can confirm it is the problem and not the clock spring. Hope this makes sense, I'm old and it's late. TIA
