Default I need more light!!!!!

As you all know the stock headlights suck a$$..more so when they get dirty from road grime.I was driving home the other night with dried salt, dirt etc. on them and could barley see the roads even with the factory fogs on.

I was wondering..are windshield mounted lights good for driving or just to see the sides of the road??

I want more light (of course) and am debating on the pro comp bumper light bar and a couple 6 inch slimlites but would rather use the mopar windshield brackets and two 6 inch slimlites cause I believe it would look better

I have a stock sahara unlimited(it will stay pretty much sotck for a few years anyway) and believe the pro comp bar and some lights might look weird on a stock sahara

Any thoughts? Sorry if this is a dull read or stupid but not sure what to do.
I also debated on getting the delta hyper white headlights but have read on here in many threads that they are not worth the money.

I have IPF 968's mounted on my windshield, and they make a big difference. My drive to work is on tree lined back roads, and there are deer everywhere, so I use the IPF's with my high beams. The way that I have them aimed, I can easily see 2 to 3 times farther than with just the hi beams alone. I got them for $100 plus tax - well worth the money. There are more expensive lights out there, but I'm happy with the 968's.

I can't see worth a shit either. I did however install some Sylvania bulbs last winter....better but not much. But I am constantly being high beam flashed from other drivers, and I don't even have a lift and took out the back seat. So the stock downward rake should even be more pronounced and the lights pointed even more towards the ground. All I've done is put on 33 inch tires, which alone sould not change the rake at all.

I've noticed that my highs seem to point up to the treetops on the sides and too far up in the middle to be of any use. Anyway, I am OVER being flashed so I just came back in from adjusting my headlighs down. I moved them down 1.5 turns. I'm hoping this will bring the highs down onto the road as well as stop the high beam flashes I get while on lows.

Can't advise you on the lights you are looking at. I just bought a pair of Light Force 240 Blitz which I will install soon. I just thought I'd tell you about the headlight adjustment as this might help in the meantime while you are making up your mind about which driving lights you will get.

Good Luck.....

Well, since I have the pro-comp bar and the windshield mounts , I'll throw in my

The PIAA (6" 520smr) driving lights that are on my windshield mounts were originally on the pro-comp bar. Once I got the windshield brackets I moved them up there and haven't looked back. They work much better up on the windshield then they do down on the bumper I have a 7" spot light pattern on the procomp bar now, and I'm happy with my setup.

and IMO a 6" light looks funny on the procomp bar, it's too small, the bigger 7" lights look more "proportionate"

hope that helps

Thanks for the replies I am thinking going with the pro comp bar and a set 6 inch lights as IMHO they are big enough IF they put out enough light. I just hate to drill in my bumper
Should I go with driving lights or fogs? Its not for off road just highway..maybe some dirt roads.

My wife doesn't much care for the windshield lights...as the saying goes,"happy wife happy life"

I believe later when I get a lift and bigger tires I will get the windshield lights.Sad thing is the jeep will never see a trail

I have both the OEM fogs and the IPF driving lights on mine. The fogs have a much shorter, wider pattern than my driving lights - they fill in the "darkness" below my headlights. My driving lights are set up just above my hi beams (with a little overlap), and they project a tighter more spot like beam, which projects much further down the road than my hi beams.

If I had to chose one over the other, I would go with the driving lights - I would rather see further up the road than what the fogs offer.

That being said, if you can spring for both, you will have a great set up. It has been snowing here on and off for the last few days, and my fogs are great early in the morning when the mist is rising off of the road. My driving lights are worthless then - they just reflect back at me.

Can't you switch to blue lens covers for when it snows? From all I've heard the blue lenses are the way to go when the white stuff's flyin'

It may not be legal to drive on public roads with windshield lights on in your province. Check local laws.

yah, in Manitoba the law is that - the centre of the light's beam must not be higher than 1m off the ground at a distance of 200m - or something like that.

they're still legal when properly aimed, but treat them like high beams and switch 'em off for oncoming traffic, I havn't had any trouble
