Agreed. As many here will tell you, replacing the stock speakers with compatible speakers (do some homework on the 2-ohm requirements that come with the factory amp) may give you a SLIGHT upgrade in sound, but a complete overhaul or at least powering up a new set of speakers in the rear is the only way you're going to really hear an improvement.
In regards to the subwoofer, simply replacing the speaker itself will make no difference. If you want more bass (which we all do, right? lol) you'll need to add an amp. The good news though is there are a few different 8" after market subs that fit in the factory enclosure so you can still add beats while maintaining the nice clean factory look and keeping your cargo space.
I have a JL Audio 8W1v2-4 in my factory enclosure running off an Alpine amp. Sounds 100x better than the stock sub/Infinity amp. Info: JL Audio 8W1v2-4 W1v2 Series 8" 4-ohm subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

You don't need a new amp.
The thing you need to realize is that all brands of speakers have different frequency responses, and they all respond different depending on the enclosure they're mounted in. So it really becomes a trial and error effort in trying to figure out what works best.
My 1st step in upgrading the audio system in my 2009 Sahara was to replace the speakers. I went with Infinity Kappa Perfect's 6.1's in the fronts and Infinity Kappa 63.9i's in the rears. This alone made my system much louder.
So make a note of that in contrast to the information you've been told so far. My replacement speakers are 4 ohm speakers which replaced the Stock Infinity 2 ohm speakers. Logic would tell you that my replacement speakers would not be as loud as the stock speakers because I increased the impedance. Well, the reason behind the new speakers being louder is because of a speaker rating that most tend to overlook which is "sensitivity". The Infinity Kappa series speakers have a very high sensitivity rating. Sensitivity means it basically makes more sound with the voltages it gets from the amp. My replacement speakers obviously had a much higher sensitivity rating then the stock speakers, thus the reason they're louder although I increased the impedance which would normally make them quieter.
Also take note, that it also made my sound bar volume louder. The rear 63.9i speakers have a sensitivity of 94 dB, the fronts have a 90dB sensitivity. Thus the rears were +4 dB louder than the fronts.
