Install an amp--few question
--if i wanna install an amp, i basically take the red & white audio cables out of the new head unit and connect to the amp..right? then run the wires from the amp to the speakers?
--if i only run a 2 channel amp to the speakers in my sound bar, will my front speakers still work? or is it an either/or sorta thing?
--can i use the existing wires that go to the speakers and attach from amp ? or shoudl i run all NEW wires?
thanks
Steve

Now the answers to these questions depend on one very important question.
Are you using a factory or aftermarket stereo?
If you're using the factory head unit you will need something called a "line level adapter". This is a device that converts the output signals from the amp into RCA connections which can be wired to an aftermarket amp.
If you're running an aftermarket amp you can typically use the RCA Pre-Amp outputs on the back of it to drive an amp.
The amp will only power the speakers that it's connected to. If you're running an aftermarket head unit you would still need to wire the front speakers to the aftermarket head units internal amp. If you're running this off a factory head unit, you would simply leave that wiring alone when you install the wiring harness and only tap into the rear speaker wires.
Make sense?
