Default Install mygig write up

I did a search, didn't find. Can anyone direct me on the thread to a mygig install write up? Of if anyone has done it, throw out some instructions? I think the main thing I wonder is do you have to disconnect the battery terminal before you install it? Anything else specific if you have a basic, non infinity system?

All you should need to do is remove the top and bottom trim peices (pry on back of top piece, and on top of the bottom piece and they should come right out) of your center stack. From there you will have 4 7mm screws to remove. Then there will be 6 clips holding on the center stack but you should be able to pull it out far enough to get to the radio. Then there will be 4 7mm screws to remove holding the radio. The plugs, and antennas should just pop out, and plug right into the mygig. Plug in the GPS antenna and secure in the center near your compass (in the top trim piece). Then just put everything back together the same way it came apart.

It’s always a good idea to disconnect the battery when installing the radio just in case you were too short a wire or something, if it is a nav you will have to drive around for 10-15 minutes to get the nav to settle in.
Enjoy

Thanks guys! I plan to do the install tomorrow. It's not a nav unit. I would have liked to have gotten one, but I got this one really cheap and already have a gps, so I'm good.

Did the install today and the entire thing from start to finish took about 20 minutes. I'll post some pictures of the install later on today in this thread.

One question for anyone that might know. When took the top trim piece off, there was a wire with an adaptor taped down to the framework. Does anyone know what that is used for? The adaptor would not fit on any of the connections on the mygig that I installed.

Do you have a compass in your instrument cluster? Just thinking that may be it since the factory attaches the compass to that top trim piece.

That is what that is for. The Sat. antenna is up in the sound bar on the right side.

Still waiting on the pics of the install? I want to install the REN Mygig and then get the Mopar Trail GPS unit to sit on top.
