Default Installed DVD Monitor

Installed a 8" monitor in place of my inside rear view mirror. Tomorrow.... hook up wireless camera on rear of Jeep and tie it into monitor.

How does that screen affect your field of vision?

I think the idea is great but couldn't you have found a monitor that was more screen and less surround? I say that just beacuse you could have gotten a larger screen to fit in the same are as the one you have without needing all the extra plastic around the screen itself (as well as the speakers).

why would you say that to someone about something they obviously invested time and money into doing? Kinda messed up. You could just not comment. If I did that, I would maybe do it a little different, but it works, its what he wants, and it looks like he mounted it securely. IMO, a monitor is better up there than a mirror. You put a 35" tire on a swing away and a couple jerry cans... poof. visibility gone. Put a camera and a monitor and you can fill the jeep up with cargo and still see where you are going.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it looks terrible.

I agree with the others. Find a smaller monitor that will fit above the mirror. I think the best solution for something like that is just to replace the stock radio with one that has a built in DVD.
