Default Installing factory fog lamps

I've looked around but can't seem to get an answer. So, I just got the rugged ridge xhd bumper with winch mount and it has a spot for factory fog lights. I decided that i would like to install them when i have the bumper off and get it all done in one swoop especially considering I'm adding a winch as well. It says on the parts site where I want to purchase the factory fog light kit with harness and switch, that the lights need to be activated with a scan tool by the dealer. Does anyone know how much this costs and if this is accurate? Thanks in advance.

Default just hear back from dealership

The dealership told me it would cost $115 to flash the fog lights into the system. Does anyone know if you need to do this with aftermarket ones?

If you want to tap into the factory harness and use the factory switch on the headlight switch then yes you will need the ECU flashed.

If you are willing to add a separate switch to turn your fogs on/off similar to off road lights then no you will not need the flash done, but you will need to do you own wiring.

Awesome! That's what I suspected. Thanks for the confirmation.

You can purchase an aftermarket lighting harness complete with everything you need at your local automotive supplier.

I would suggest purchaseing one that is rated for 30 Amps. This would cover any future upgrades to the system. You will also need a fuse tap. Below is a link on what it is and how to install.

If you are needing to wire up a relay for the winch you might as well do a separate circuit for the fogs on its own relay and switch at the same time sonce you'll be putting in the work. It's going to be a lot cheaper than getting the harness and reflashing your computer. I just added fogs and windshield lights and the wiring took me a day at the most. Cost was around $40 for two switches, two relays, wiring and connectors. No flashing necessary.
