Default Installing Fog Lights

I recently bought a RR Mdular XHD Front bumper for my 08 Wrangler. My jeep did not come with factory fog lights and I plan on installing them in the bumper. My question is...What size are the factory lights? Can a different size fit in the bumper? What all do I need to buy to install the lights (wiring, etc..), I plan to put a toggle switch for the off/on in the dash.

Do I have enough of room to install the bumper and the winch later or should I just wait to install the winch and bumper at the same time?

You could get this it's cheap....The bumper has the threaded pins where the lights should go already so it would be easier in my opinion to get this. If I remember right you better get the lights and winch put in now and then put it all on or you will be taking it back off. It's been a while since I put mine on but I do remember taking it back off because I didn't put winch on first before bolting the bumper on...

Thanks for the info. I will order that tomorrow, I think that will look better inside with the switch built into the tree off the steering column. But as always, I have a couple more questions:

Is it fairly easy to install ( I do see 2 wrenches as difficult)? Taking apart the steering column sounds like a lot.

Also, I read somewhere that the vehcile VIN number has to be updated for the lights to work. That true?

Installing this kit is fairly easy. Almost all the wiring is done for you, a basic plug-n-play. The instructions (should) be fairly straight forward and easy to follow.

As far as the VIN # having to be updated I am VERY confused...I don't know who or what you would "update" it with...your VIN # is your VIN #...it doesn't ever change or update.

If you have any questions with wiring post them up. I've done 4 sets of lights (including the MOPAR ones).

All electronic devices that get installed into our jk's that are mopar devices ie; fog lights, windsheild or bumper, u-connect hands free bluetooth, or a 7 pin trailer towing harness. They come with some sort of 3 letter code that has to added to your vin # by the service mngr or the service writer and once that is done then they will hook up the Starscan tool to your on-board computer so it can now recognize what electrical item has been put in and then the computer will allow it to work. Otherwise you just installed an item that the on-board pcm doesn't know and ain't going to let it work. Good luck. Hope this answered any of your thoughts or questions.

Do they literally re-badge your VIN on the dash? or just throw a code into their system that is associated with the VIN showing that you added something through the dealer? When I did mine the only thing that was done was the starscan, and it wasn't through my dealer. (they went out of business).

If they changed your ACTUAL VIN# wouldn't you have to go to the DMV to submit new registration?
