Has anyone installed power locks on non power lock equipped JK. All the shops here say there is no after market kit.

I put power locks and keyless entry in my TJ back in the day. I just used universal power locks (pistol style) from ebay and wired them to my alarm and didnt use switches inside the jeep cause I never unlock or lock the doors with the switch. They have some kits on ebay for like $40 that have switches and everything. I would pick out an alarm or keyless entry you like then just use the universal lock actuators (or kit) cause there are not a lot of differences between actuators. You should be able to use a universal keyless entry system and universal actuators and do the whole job including the tail gate for under $150 no problem.

A friend of mine who mechanics for me put in the Universal Life electric door lock kit that was supposed to be made for the JK. The front door locks from the kit went in okay, but it was definitely not easy. The rear doors require a push style rod to be fabricated. The angles on the push rod are not easy, and we ended up giving up. In the end, we went to the dealer and bought rear door latches that already had the electric components attached and they bolted right up.

If I were doing it again, and already into it, I would go buy the electric parts straight from Jeep and avoid the Universal Life kit. The Universal Life kit should in no way be advertised as a "bolt in" designed for the JK.

Mine is a 2009 JK Unlimited X. After the money and pain of upgrading electric windows and locks, I would not do the entire project again. I would instead trade it in and buy a Sahara. I'm not a quitter, but the cost benefit is better with the trade I think. Plus you get a lot of other luxury items that I like when tooling back and forth to work.

Buy OEM replacement latches for a JK with power locks, replace your latches. (usually found under "crash parts" for online dealers)
Pretty much any alarm or remote start kit will have an output for locks.
You'll need to run 2 wires from the latch and add a quick connector at each door. I chose 6-pin, in case I ever got the desire for power windows. (years later, I'm still happy with manual windows)

My first pass was buying an aftermarket kit with plungers and wiring.
Doing it from scratch again, I would recommend the power lock latches on first pass.
They're a piece of cake to install and more reliable than the plungers.

I checked with another installer here and he told me the universal kit don't work on JK's, work fine on TJ's. Told me to get parts from dealer. I'm going to see how much the parts cost. May not be worth it.

Default factory actuators aftermarket remote (wiring)

Hey, I have purchased the oem actuators for the doors and want to install an aftermarket keyless entry. I am a little unsure of the wiring to the factory lock. The wiring is a four pin. Wires are as follows:

Door Lock Driver (tan/white)
Door Unlock Driver (tan/light green)
Door Lock MUX (violet/light green)
Door lock Switch Return (light green/tan)
Anyone know how to wire this up? I just want the keyless so I am looking at abuldog 1702 (built in relays) or something similar. They have a diagram with the MUX wire for lock and unlock signal with 330ohm and 100ohm. I am not sure, do I run 12volt to driver terminals and ground to the return or nothing on the return?
Thanks for any assistance!

Sorry-my bad. I was looking at the wiring for the door unlock switch. The factory acuators have door ajar, ground, unlock driver, and lock driver. Should be able to use signal wires from keyless entry to power each driver and be good to go.

Oh yes. It is a pain in the ass. The actuators you can buy from Parts Express for $5 each. Wiring it to an alarm is definetely the best option. Here is a link to give you an idea.
