Default Interior lighting

M sure there is a thread somewhere on this but has anyone used those led strips that you see at autozone all the time? I'm looking to add more light in my jku and was wondering if anyone has used them and if so what kit did you buy? And how did you wire it all? I'm just looking for white light nothing fancy but I don't want to have to plug it in to my cigarette outlet.

I just replaced the stock interior bulbs with LEDs. Front and back. The difference in available light is like night and day.

Actually, no. Sorry. I had them done a couple years ago by a small company in Newmarket, Ontario. I believe that the bulbs were actually made in-house. But they based their design on common LEDs that are made for vehicles. Any place that deals in LED lighting should be able to set you up with bulbs that would fit, as they are pretty common replacements...

If you replace with LED bulbs, just make sure to get some that are canbus friendly. There was a recent thread (or an old one that was reently brought back up) of someone installing couple LED strips on the front of the sound bar to add more light to the front area. IIRC, they tapped the normal dome light and wired through the plastic sound bar. If I can locate that again I'll update with a link. I removed my rear dome light when I removed my rollbar padding few weeks ago. I'm gonna use that wiring to install an LED strip in the rear cargo area so there's a little light when I open the tailgate.

Actually, this old thread might be what I was thinking of. See post #14 at the bottom. Pretty clean install tapping in to that dome light there.
