I did the same thing with my XM radio. I also ran the antenna to the top center of the windshield. Looks and works great.

All the others seem fine with regular effort. But the driver's side will look closed, but show a door warning if I'm not "assertive" with my closing.:toung:

I don't have my JK yet, so I can't look at it to give you completly accurate advice.
But I am a mechanic and given the info you have provided I would look at a couple different things.

(1) Is the interor light switch on the door adjustable at all? This all depends on what type of switch has been used. (I think it may be a push button under a rubber boot)

(2) Since the drivers door needs more effort for it to be closed properly, this leads me to believe that the striker for the door latch needs to be adjusted a bit. This could be your whole problem because with the door not adjusted properly, the switch would not be able to be pressed far enough to disconnect the power.

Either way, your vehicle is brand new and you paid a fat wad of change for it. Bring it to the dealer and show them the problem your having, and make them take care of it. It should't take more than 20 minutes to fix and it's covered under the warranty.

Something small like this should be fixed as soon as possable because it's easy to forget and one day it may leave you stranded.

I hope this helps you out.

HEK, Ge99ne and JeepDiver,

What did you folks find out about your interior light problem?

Or are you just still slamming your doors harder?

Just wondering.

I found in driving the Rubi this past week that my wife tends to shut the door as she has been doing so in my TL, which you just need a slight push on the door and it springs into the door frame with little effort. Now she knows that the Rubi needs a little bit more effort and it works just fine.

My Jeep Sahara 4 door is sealed up pretty good with the hard top on. I do have to slam the doors pretty good (all of them) to get them to latch completely. However when I pull one of the hard top panels off, to let the car "vent", it is noticeably easier to close the doors completely.

My theory is the doors just don't have a heck of a lot of weight behind them to overcome the air force being generated when you close the door. On other vehicles it is much easier b/c the doors weigh a lot more.

Seems like the door seal "broke in after about a month. Don't have to slam anymore.

I never saw a button like onthe tj's for the door light. I guess its inside the latch area. The upside is the lights don't stay on when you pull the doors off. As soon as I unhook the electrical block the interior lights cut off like the door was shut.

If there's no button, there's probably a magnetic switch somewhere.

I was told by the stealership (so take this with a grain of salt) that the stock alarm system won't work if the doors are unplugged.

(This is just a side note...On the TJ's there's a 10 amp fuse that can be removed which will keep the interior lights from coming on, not to mention a few aftermarket products as well)

Same here, not really having the problem anymore. I think the seals are just really tight when brand new. Next time I take mine in, I may get the door adjusted since it sticks out a little at the botton, but haven't been to worried about it since it seals nice and tight.

I think this is one of those rare instances where they got it right. All the alarm seems to do is respond to doors opening. Stand to reason, then no doors, no alarm.
