Only problem with running pandora and all that other stuff is that you need to be 3g. That's another $30 a month just to use the iPad in the Jeep. With all the free wifi out there there is not much need to buy a 3g model unless you want it for the Jeep. I like sirius better than an iPad.

There are some great uses for "computers" in vehicles. Think outside the box all you haters. I don't have a need for my iPad on my dash, but I can see where some people would get a lot of use out of it.
1. Trail ride POV video recording.
2. streaming audio/video
3. navigation
4. video calling (3G or tethered to cellphone for data)
5. Redlight camera notifications
6. a Big "Clineometer"
sure you can do all this on a small screen (iPhone), but we all know bigger is better.
I personally just plug my iPhone into the Mygig (Uconnect) to mirror the iPhone screen on the Nav screen (Using NavTV interface and a Jailbroken iPhone running TVoutTuner). simple....

3. Nav, obvious
4. Video calling - Really?
5. Redlight camera notification - Cool!
6. Big Clineometer - OK not for me but OK
Still dont see the need in a JK... police car sure, JK no.

3. Video Streaming for those moments you want to stop and relax, maybe have some video playing while on that LONG 200 mile stretch of road where you don't see a car for an hour (Do those even exist anymore). IDK
4. Video calling when you are with you kid out on the trail and moms at home. Kids love it and so does mom.
obviously these are the same when using the smaller screen of your phone, just that much better!

I want a carputer in the jeep for pandora radio and other online radio stations. I can have my local radio station no matter where I'm at in the country or eve if I'm off teh beaten trail and don't get radio service. I have the wifi hotspot tether feature on my smart phone for free since i unlocked my phone. I have a wifi edition ipad that will not be connected to the jeep but will be in the jeep and can use the wifi as well as the carputer. There are also several gps programs out that can be used for on road and off.

Charging from the USB port
My 2011 wont charge my iPad 2 from the connectivity pkg USB port, my guess is that its not getting a full 5v. The radio sees it fine. Anyone else have this problem?

For the people that think the ipad in a jeep is stupid you obviously wouldn't use the features on it bit for those or us that would its great and actually really cheap. I put pioneer navigation unit in my 06 f150 and it was $2800.00 so to put an ipad in a jeep for probably around a $1000 is a steal because it could do WAY MORE stuff then my pioneer unit could even dream of!!!!!
