Ipad 2 error connecting to mygig

Ipad 2 error connecting to mygig
I tried for the first time to connect my ipad 2 to the usb sync port in the armrest. When I hit "aux" on the mygig, it says "reading" for about 1 minute then just says "error occurred." meanwhile, when i click the ipod icon on my ipad it says "accessory connected" and doesnt allow me to do anything. any clue how to solve this?
