Default iPhone won't play music in JK

I have an '11 JK with the USB port in the center console. I can play music without any problems via my iPod, but when I plug in my iPhone it says there's an error and cannot play. Anybody know of a solution? Is this just a settings issue? Thanka for any guidance.

We have the same issue with our 2011, non nav head unit but we do have infinity stereo. We took it by the dealer and they said it was an issue with the updated ipod software and that the head unit we have cant be updated. So the only hope is for apple to fix that error and then it might work again. My guess is maybe your Iphone updated and no longer works?

Funny you have that issue, I just picked up my 2012 and updated my phone and at times it doesn't work...what I usually do is unplug the phone and plug it back in and it works....

It's a known issue. You can still plug in the accessory port with a double male (headphone) cord. Not ideal, but it works.

Is the error you're getting the "This accessory is not made to work with an iPhone" error or does it say something else?

If so, then that's the certificate on the phone's end, not the Jeep's, I used to have this problem with a lot of our family's vehicles head units...I remember there used to be a jailbreak fix to stop it...

Do you have bluetooth in the JK? The 2012 will play over bluetooth using the auxiliary setting.

Default iPhone doesn't work buy my iPad does

This is interesting. I have tried my iPhone (3gs) without success, and playing via BT sounds horrible. I then plugged in my iPad and wouldn't you know, works perfectly fine. My new iPhone is on its way so hopefully I will have no problems with that.

FWIW mine is a plain old 4 not the new 4S. not sure if that makes any difference. never thought of trying my iPad... good luck with your new phone.
