ipod compatible w myGig??
Hello all, might be a silly question... but does the mygig work and work well w the ipod. What im looking for is a friendly and relatively quick touchscreen navigation through the ipod as opposed to manually spinning the wheel on the ipod to select songs. Pioneer has a new touchscreen out thats supposed to be pretty decent so Im wondering if Im better buying a pioneer instead of the myGig. Thanky thanky -T

In earlier versions, no it doesn't, but in the latest software update, it mentions that the 09 mygigs have an iPod connection available. But aside from that, I've heard nothing about an iPod integration kit for the MyGig and it's the reason why I'm content to keep my factory single disc player for now, because I love having the use of the iPod through the deck.
So if anyone knows about the iPod integration for the MyGig, please fill us in.
"MyGIG with Navigation) Software Versions Definition
9.807 RER/REW/REP Software update disc (same as 1.055 software in Model Year 2009 radios)
o Note, iPod support is only available today through Model Year 2009 radios via a serial port out the back of the radio. It is not currently an upgrade for Model Year 2007 and 2008 radios."

I'm not really sure of how much I like the interface, as I've gotten pretty good with the wheel on the iPod for high speed scrolling. That being said, I HATE the wheel while driving. So I like the typing, listing etc much better.
I still can't find a part # for the actual iPod connector piece, but the pinouts it uses you should be able to get it from a dealer, and then add it in line to the plugs. But it is surprising how many cables there are.
if you ask the dealer for the part #, and they can find it then a mygig would be fine. If not, the aftermarket might be better.
Here is a pic of all the cables:
Notice the "iPod" choice on the screen?

Thanks for the info hscrugby, that's pretty cool. The ipod integration was the one feature the MyGig was lacking in my opinion and now it really seems to have everything. I will definitely have to look into that.
