Default Ipod to MyGig Question

Why is it that my Ipod has 750 songs on it and then when I transfer all music from it to the MyGig it only shows 533 songs? I'm pretty sure all of them are mp3's, would m4a not work? Thats what most purchased CD's use.

Not sure if this is your issue but the 30gb hard drive that comes with the system only gives you about 16.2gb of available storage space for songs. I assume it is because the NAV data (assuming you have NAV) takes up a lot of space.

I had specifically loaded about 28gb of music on my mp3 player to transfer and the process took several hours (good thing I was on a trail!). When it finished, it was missing a ton of songs so i went into the settings and that was when I noticed that the system only gives you about half the stated space. Very annoying!

Now, 500 songs should not equal 16gb unless you have them ripped in some ridiculously high bit rate so you may have a different issue but I thought the above might help a bit. It may be possible that the file formats you have loaded are not supported. I would try and stick with mp3 and wma.

Some may be copyright protected too, and wont copy over because of that.

I had this problem at one point also.
It turned out to be the file format. I don't remember which type it was that would not copy, but you are on the right track with your thinking.

If any song was purchased on Itunes; it is Mp4 and will not transfer to the Mygig. You can download a mp4 to mp3 converter and it will then transfer.
