Jeep infinity sub
Hi everyone
I'm looking to swap out my infinity sub and Setup an alpine instead, does anyone know how much power is sent to the sub? Also was wondering if it's a separate amp or wired straight through the unit. Trying to keep the stock look and dont want to put my old 12's in the jeep Thanks |
Your best bet if you want to keep the factory enclosure is to still run a new amp to it with the new sub. Infiniti has an amp but it is Powered specifically for the low powered sub so it will not power anything stronger efficiently. You will notice though that the enclosure will not do well with a stronger sub since it is very small and crappy. so I just wasted time explaining that when I should have to you to just buy or build a custom enclosure if you want a factory look and throw in a sub and amp of your choice.

If you replace the sub, you will want to look into getting a dual voice coil sub, so that you can connect both channels from the Infinity amp to drive the sub. If you get a single voice coil sub, then you will only be able to connect one of the 2 amp channels, thus cutting your power to the sub in half. |
I believe the infinity sub is dual 2 ohm voice coils, so you will need to get the same to extract the little bit of power out of the factory amp. X2 on a bigger dedicated sub amp

Thanks for the help |
Dump the factory enclosure and buy the JL stealth box. The factory sub is anemic. I have had 6.5" speakers mounted in kick panels play louder, lower and deeper than the factory sub.

Just get a good 8" or 10" sub and build your own box. $40-$50 done...
