Jeep JKU footwell/courtesy light to LED
Hello, new to this forum and this will be my first post. Just became a jeep owner in Dec 2015 and am excited for what is to come!
So I decided to change out all my interior lights to LEDs. The dome light and cargo light were a breeze popped open the covers and put in the corresponding bulbs. When I got to the footwell and under rearview mirror lights, there came the problem. These lights were not replaceable like the other two interior lights by simple bulb swaps, they were LEDs hard wired onto boards that weren't easily replaceable. I saw another member post that he just soldered out the yellow rearview mirror LEDs and put in white LEDs to replace them. I decided to tackle the footwell lights first but instead of swapping out LEDs from the board, I cut out the entire board from the footwell light assembly totaling two on each assembly. I then mounted some LED boards I purchased on Amazon and stuck them on with supplied 3m in the spots used to hold the yellow LEDs in footwell assembly. I'm sure there are smaller boards out there and you could do a different method but this is what I went with and am happy with the results. I wired them up and soldered the connections followed by shrink wrap. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

nice work..
I was going to swap mine over to blue to match the Jeep, but I'm not real good with soldering and such..
I'll have to rig up something at some point I guess..

Are those stock Jeep brackets from under the dash? I do not have any light or brackets etc. up under there. I can make some but probably could find them digging in a wrecking yard I'd imagine...
