Default jeep won't start

2012 wrangler won't start. All lights are dim, starter knocks, small red light on above temp gauge. (Security) funny thing is the lights are on, but dim, when the jeep is off. Now I can't even shift to neutral with key on and foot on brake. I've been checking Google and YouTube, but no real answers yet. Anyone?

Man that just sucks...

My first thought is (and it's just a thought) I guess JK's Security Systems are known to "Lock out".... Maybe?

I did find this on the JeepForum. com They talked about disconnecting the 'negative battery cable' for a little while, it will allow the system to reset itself.

Good Luck.

P.S. Let us know what you get figured out... We all may need the "fix" one day.

thanks guys. I'm going to take the battery in and get it tested. Crossing fingers, hopefully that's it.

That happened to my 12. It's the battery for sure. Dealer replaced it under warranty.

Well I had the battery tested and there is zero charge in it. Nada. What's draining it? Back to the dealer it goes. It it's still under warranty. I have KC lights on the hood. They better not say that's the problem. I know it's not, but we all know how dealers are. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks again.

It could have just been a bad battery from the factory..

Cool... Glad to hear it.

Really weird that you had those issues you listed from a dead battery. But I still have a lot to learn about how they wire these Jeeps.

My old XJ had a dead battery once... It just didn't do anything. I guess there is something to be said for simple.
