Just bought a 2010 JK, have a lighting question.
Hi everyone! Just bought a 2010 JK and I'm new to the forum. I'm having a two light problems.
When I press the brake slightly, my third brake light (tire mount) lights up and stays on. When I fully depress the brake, however, it shuts off. The wiring harness inside the rear door seems to be connected tightly. The other brake lights are working fine as well. Could this be an issue with the brake pedal wiring?
Both of the fog lights do not work. The light on the dash comes on but neither light works.
I haven't changed any bulbs yet. I was wondering these these two problems could possibly be connected and are a sign of a bigger electrical problem??

Could be a sign of a bigger electrical problem...

I got under the jeep today, the fog light bulbs are bad and I'm replacing them. As far as the brake light goes, my next step is investigating the brake light switch to see if that's the problem. Considering that it works at the start of braking then shuts off may mean I need to reset the switch.
Try this and report back:
With the key out of the ignition, press the brake pedal exactly like you described in the first post. See if the symptoms are the same, paying particular attention to the regular brake lights.

If you can press the pedal by hand enough to get all the lights to go out, reach in and wiggle the wire harness connector. If that makes no difference, keep the pedal pushed down, and push the switch plunger in and out, and see what that does.
This will help you know if it's a bad connection at the harness, or a bad switch.
