Default JW Speaker Evo J Series Install

Just picked up these puppies, https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0137...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 , after getting the run around with 4wheelparts. Install was way easy and took sub-30 minutes.

Steps in a nut shell:
-remove grill fascia, just 6 pop outs on my 2013 JKU.
-pop off the bottom clamps, just used a flat tip to press down while applying local pressure.
-remove old headlamps, 4 x T15 torx. -transfer bezel from old headlamps to new ones
-connect new LEDs
-mount bezel
-reattach fascia
-Boom, you have light!

From there I found a nice wall, parked 25' away and leveled my lights just below the 3' mark. You'll need a skinny Torx for this, not one of the interchangeable bits ones. There is a more fancier way that has quite a few more steps, but I opted to keep it simple. Just from a vanity perspective the lights look amazing compared to stock and add to that they throw off some amazing light and you have a winner -Tom

Forgot to mention - one negative - there appears to be a fair amount of dust inside the lamp, not really noticeable unless the lights are on.

I have a set as well, and they are great. I still need to aim mine. What size torx wrench do you need for the aiming?

Curious that Amazon sent you a set of lights with the led daytime upper half halo on top. Reviews explain this half ring model as being for European JKs specifically and halo-ringless on US models. Even the Amazon photo shows the US version while you clearly received the European style. I know I can't be the only one to come across this (mixed) info. Could you tell us if the half-halo has a separate wire for daytime driving lights?

Night shots are always helpful too for comparison and price justification if any other J 2 series are out there.

Same Torx 15 that you use to mount them. The adjusters are the silver colored T15's at 10 and 2 (passenger / driver).

According to JW (LED Jeep Lights - Model 8700 Evolution J Off Road Headlights) The Evo J's come with the "... one-of-a-kind look, featuring a cool “half halo” light pipe..." So I am not sure its a correct assumption these are European Specs... not that I would mind.

Of course there could be Evolution 2's, not J series, that have a difference in EU vs US spec. But that is just naive assumption by me.

As far as connecting it up, its just plug and play with the existing cabling.

Comments below from the UK JW Speaker importer regarding the UK spec J series in response to my questions.

The new headlights, do they have 3 connections? DLR? Side lights? And main/low beam? – Yes H4 plug, red wire for front position and blue wire for DRL
Does the main/low beam have a UK H4 connection and does the anti flicker cover the DLR as well. I assume the headlight switches the DLR/side light as required? Yes H4 DRL would be wired independently so no flicker as the Jeep does not have a specific function wire for it

To add another negative, I had 3 error codes pop up this morning - B1630 & B1622 (didn't write the 3rd down) - so not too stoked about that.

I used my Flashpaq to clear the DTC's, and they popped back up a few minutes later. I cleared it once more and it stayed off... hoping this won't be a recurring problem.

Threw these codes again. This is going to be a problem for me. I am going to reach out to JW and see what they think.

Truly an amazing amount of light output and coverage difference from their previous generation. But wow! Pretty scary what you are experiencing. Certainly, somewhere, before releasing, someone from corporate must have had a similar accurance. THANK YOU for sharing your unfortunate trials. I can only assure you that hundreds (poss thousands) are closely watching this out come and feel your pain. Please keep ALL of us updated. With genuine appreciation in advance....
