KC HiLiTES NEW 7" LED's competition
Since I had to pull my KC HiLiTES 7" H4 upgrades to do new install, I only did the KC HiLiTES LED's against IPF's and Trucklites. In the next week or so I will do a competition again stock and the KC H4 upgrades.

That's awesome!!! Thank you:thumbsup:

Really wish these came out before I got my crappy trucklites.

Also the anti flicker is built in to the harness so you don't have to buy anything extra

Has anyone tried these yet? Supposedly have 1900 lumens each @ 12 volts 2 amps. With turn signals built in as an option. |
I haven't seen in person, but I know there is a thread about them. Reviews say they aren't as bright as expected and cheaply made if I remember right
|
FYI to all those debating and possibly questioning price, The KC HiLiGHTS LED Headlights come with a 23 year warranty! I talked to owner this morning and it is confirmed!
Warranty | KC HiLiTES: Auxiliary Lighting, Off Road Lights, HID Off Road Lights, Fog Lights, LED Light Bars, Driving Lights, Light Bars, Wiring Accessories, Flashlights, Torches Name another headlight that backs their product like that!! |
Just curious, when you did your test, how far away from the wall were you?
|
Not sure on exact distance but probably 5 car lengths or so

From your test KC looks to be the cleanest and brightest light. Would you recommend getting them over the others tested? I see the KC go for around 650 is that what you paid for them? If you got them cheaper could you point me in the right direction

Quadratec has them for 499
I did a search on KC headlights, headlights, LED headlights and a few other things and can't find them anywhere on Quadratec. Do you have a link? Nevermind I just tried a google shopping search and they came up on Quadratec that way. Here's the link: KC HiLiTES 42321 - KC HiLiTES 7" Par 56 LED Headlamps for 07-14 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec They're 10 bucks cheaper on ET. I dunno about shipping though haven't looked into both shipping prices yet. http://www.extremeterrain.com/kc-hil...841&adtype=pla Edit: Free shipping on ET. However... I just noticed they look a little different on ET. Perhaps a different model? >.> Well after closer inspection, they look the same on the picture of the Jeep. But the closeup of just the light itself looks different. So I dunno. Manufacturer part numbers are the same in both. |
Those are the same. Quadratec price matches and ships free if you call and tell them you are from forums

They seems brighter but I don't think they are. I think they are just more focused to one area. I'd like to see some actually numbers.
|
They are $436.28 on Amazon with free shipping.

I am having trouble figuring out what I'm looking at here. Do you have 3 Jeeps lines up with all different setups?

They are hands down brighter! Even the owner of the Trucklites would tell you the same:yup:
|
Well like I said judging by the pics it just seems brighter in the middle as that's where the light is focused. Id like to see where the trucklites owner says that. And still haven't seen any actual hard numbers.

Hard numbers :dontknow2:

Hola... It was my jeep lined up on the left running trucklites and rigids.. I've always been happy with my trucklites, the x and flicker has never bothered me.
The design of these headlights are almost identical, the noticeable difference is in the low beam reflector. Net result is a better spread and brighter light coming out of the KC. If I didn't already have trucklites, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up a pair of the KCs |

I was there, in fact the IPF lights are mine, and the KC were definitely brighter than the Trucklites.
|
This pains me. I think I still might go with TL. KC killed it with the disco ball look and yellow emblem in the front.

Ok guys here are some pics from the drivers seat tonight. The photos behind Lexus look like I am really close but I just have camera zoomed in before light turned green. You will see in that photo that I have my lights angled down so I don't burn scalps and blind people from reflection from rear view (we've all been there)

I have truck-lites now. For some reason I just can't get past the "V" or "x" pattern the lights put out in front of the jeep. The lights are nice but I can't stand the V. I will be getting the KC's for that reason alone! Im glad they also seem to be more focused. The KC logo would be nice in black. Wonder if there is a way of painting it. Any access behing the housing? Can they be taken apart?
|
Great post! You guys did a real good job of comparison between the top contenders.
I was just about ready to pull the card out and buy a set of TL's when I saw this post. After seeing them compared to the KC's I will go that route instead. However I do have a few questions, is the bright spot in the middle of your photos really that bright, or is it just the way the camera is filming it? It really does look super bright right in one area. I guess if you brought that up in adjustment and sent that down the road a ways then it may not be as bad. But yeah then you run the risk of giving a free tan to oncoming traffic. Like the previous poster, I wonder can the lens be removed to black out that yellow KC logo? By the way that 50 inch LED was about ready to get that building smoking. I did not realize they were that bright. Oh well one thing at a time. Again good job. |
I wouldn't risk pulling the housing apart to paint that KC logo.. It's barely noticeable unless you are actually looking for it. As for the hot spot, yes there is one but mine is more due to angle I have mine. I still haven't had one person flash me including the multiple cops I see every time I drive at night

Here's my new KC HiLite LED headlights and Inspired Engineering LED floods I installed over the weekend. I love the new light output.
|
Looks great! How do you like the new lights? Did my install write up help you out?

I looked at the KC's and I just couldn't get past the look, so I opted for the TL's. The TL might not perform as well, but at least in pictures, the KC's make me focus on that bar (more than anything else on the entire front end). Maybe if they smoked the lens or reflector a little bit, it would be an easier pill to swallow.
|
I'm ordering one or the other in the next week, does anyone have a good pic of the lights themselves of each installed up close and a few feet back? I see the yellow on the kc on the web sight but id like to see a "real" install pic
