KC windshield light mounting bracket question...

Default KC windshield light mounting bracket question...

You guys that have mounted these bracket to you windshield are you just slapping them on or putting something to buffer between the bracket and windshield?

I went to the auto parts store and bought some gasket material and trimmed it to fit. Only cost me $4
I didn't feel comfortable putting them on without some kind of protection for the paint.

Yup same here !! i even put a bit of dum dum around the bolt holes to prevent any water from getting in

Great idea. Where did you get it from so I can narrow down the hunt.

I got it at O'Reilly (Kragen). Just ask for gasket material. I comes in a roll and was around $4. I've only had mine on for a few weeks so I'm not sure how well it will hold up to water, but we've had some rain since then and they seem fine, from what I can see anyway.

a couple of layers of sticky one side carpet tape works great, just trim arround the part after you apply it. have used this solution for many years when mounting hardware on boats. works great
