LED Headlites
I'm new to this forum as I just joined the JK family. We now have a 2012 Unlimited Sport.
The issue that I would like to talk about is that I want to upgrade the lites to LED. However, I was warned that if you upgrade to LED headlight, you have to include the anti-flicker box.
Now I understand that JK Jeeps are computer controlled now and everything you add has to be accepted by the computer.
Here is my question and I apologize in advance if it sounds wrong.
Instead of using the anti-flicker unit, has anyone used the bypass with relays like those were used on non-computer controlled vehicles to run full power to headlites via a relay bypass?
Just in case anyone doesn't know that they are, they are small harnesses that when you wire them in, the original power line that went to the lites from the switch go to a relay instead and direct power goes from the battery to the lites and you get full brightness to the incandescent or halogen units. I have one on my 06 LJ and my 01 Ram 1500 and they are money well spent. I just had to adjust them down a tad as not to blind oncoming drivers or to attract attention from authorities.
What I'm trying to accomplish is to not have to use a flicker box. Brightness will not be affected because of the LEDs circuitry.
Anyone?

yeah. when i got my 2012 i used a standalone harness triggered off the factory harness to power the headlights so they wouldent flicker. The anti flicker harness did not exist yet and it was about the only way to go. I got mine from Rally Lights, Hella, TerraTrip, Hans, WRC, ZAMP its way more then whats needed but you could power the sun with it : )
I'm not sure this will solve what you're trying to do here, but JW Speaker Evolution Js have all of the circuitry built into them and are still plug and play headlights. HUGE upgrade over stock.
