LED light bar
I was looking for opinions on LED light bars. I currently have a 50” light and bracket mounted above my windshield. The bracket interferes with my snorkel and causes a vibration. What are the pros and cons of mounting the light bar to below the windshield on the cowel?
You're going to get so much light feedback from the hood if you do that. Admittedly, I am NOT a fan of lightbars in general and blinding light off the hood really aggravates me. Really not sure why folks are so enamored by them. I've had a cheap one back in the day. Sure, it put out a lot of light.....low-quality light. Hardly ever a situation to use one of those either....maybe if you're in this big empty field it lights up more area, but otherwise I think you're better off with smaller quality lighting on bumper and A-piller mounts angled out a bit.
I agree big time about those light bars. My 2011, which I got a year ago had one and in my opinion it was actually worse than no lights at all. I took it off and at TSC in the US I found small LED spot lights for the crazy price of $20 A PAIR. I mounted 4 of them to my Gobi roof rack and they are amazing.
Not wishing to just throw away the 40 inch light bar, I pondered the idea a little and now have the best backup/work light you have ever seen. NOT connected to the reversing lights, has it's own switch but as a backup light, or even a work light it is beyond amazing and even looks kind of cool. I love it and the spotlights instead of light bar os any description work much better as I have them focused about 30 feet down the road, or lack of rod as the case maybe.
