Default Light bar that mounts to top of windshield frame?

I'm looking for a light bar that mounts to the top of the jeep. All of the ones ive seen online mount down at the base of the windshield and come up and over with upright bars on the side. This may be a stupid question but does anybody make such a lightbar that mounts directly to the top of the windshield or has anyone made their own like that?

No, not a retard! But I dont think that you will find such a criter!. Not unless your willing to build and install it yourself. I'm sure that you may get a lot of intrest if you do?

you see ive never been a fan of the style of light bars that mount at the bottom. the problem is at the moment im not home so i can't even look at possible mounting points up top so im gonna have to think about it more when i get home.

I just looked him up and he has the lightforce bar and it still mounts at the bottom. Thanks though. The closest thing ive seen was a guy custom mounted a jeep liberty lightbar to their hardtop.

The problem is there is no spot to mount the bar to on the top. Unless you have a hardtop, you can do what the guy with the liberty did.

You see the issue i could see with that is taking off the freedom panels since they are two separate pieces. It may come down to drilling into the windshield frame up top....bad idea?

that's great, but i dont like the look of the upright bars, i think it looks unnecessary.

There's just not a lot of metal on the top. Glass and rubber seals. I have the CARR ROTA bar, even though it mounts lower I barely even notice anymore. That's the reason I went with that setup. It's super thin.

I understand your dislike for the side arms, but the bolts on most bars need to be somewhat beefy to hold lights and be stable in high winds while driving.

However I'm always amazed at the ingenuity of the people here to do the seemingly impossible.

I think that it's also for strength, mounting a bar directly to the top of the frame in my mind would cause it to not be structurally sound with the driving forces placed upon it and the amount of weight you actually bolt up to it. And the metal around the frame of the windshield is already thin and very minimal to work with. I'd like to see what you come up...
