For the amount of times most people can actually use a 50", they are kind of redonk. Attractiveness is all a matter of opinion I guess. I don't like them myself, but have had one on mine before for a long wheelin' trip, and my buddies have had them in the past as well. I am a firm believer that the real factor is the height at which the brackets hold the light, and they all differ from brand to brand, generic to generic. I lucked out the one time I bought something, and the brackets were shorter than most, holding the light pretty level with the roof line. I never got much noise at all. A buddy had some mounts that held the light much higher and it was like an airplane taking off. Later he had the same mounts I had with the same experience of no noise.

People have shoved all kinds of things in the fins, done things like what you linked, and have come up with products like Dkehler pointed out. All seem to work to some extent. Unless you're talking about a high quality Rigid, most cheap 50" bars put out some crappy washed out lighting, give a lot of feedback on your hood, can interfere with your radio, and look bad in general. There are much better lighting options available IMO, and you don't have to spend money or come up with DIY solutions to keep them quiet.

Wind noise and whistling are two different things. Whistling can be addressed, but wind noise can't be eliminated. Sticking a square edged bar in the path of wind at highway speeds is going to create noise.

Thanks for sharing this! I'm anxious to try this out. Can you tell me how the vinyl is applied to the light bar and Jeep? (adhesive, glue, etc). Also, can you provide a link to the vinyl wrap you purchased for this? Appreciate it.
