Default Light bases and brackets rusting! No Problem.

Hey guys, i know a majority of us are running KC HiLites on our Jeeps and many are also running SlimLites on the windshield and stuff.
After having my lights on for nearly 3 years, the brackets and the bottom of the lights look like crap, and the powder coating is all bubbling up and flaking off.
I thought i had pics but i guess i deleted them..

Anyway, instead of taking the whole cowl and lights apart to paint the pieces i called KC because of their 23 year warranty. Sure enough Jim at KC Hilites said to order a new set with brackets and i can send mine in and get re-imbursed for the whole thing. Or send mine in and get new replacements.
That's standing behind a product. So this is kind of a shout out to KC saying what great service they have. Now i only have to take the cowl apart once to get to my wiring to disconnect my lights and replace them with a new assembly and brackets. This time i'm going to put plastic or rubber washers everywhere to keep this from happening again.

Default Nice to hear

I love the KC Slimlights have 2 sets on the JK. When I put the ones on the windshield I also used the KC brackets which I covered in a thin piece of rubber (On the backing) to hopefully prevent this....But its good to know that if it does KC backs their products.

Damn, that's good to know, thanks for posting! Wish I had known about that with previous brackets on my TJ.

That is good to know that there is a company standing behind the product, but on the same note, I think it would be even better if after only three years the product would still be in good condition. I've had a set of IPF's, as a matter of fact three sets on my 94XJ for about 9 years now. Neither the lights or the brackets are rusting. Installed a set of PIAA 520 fogs on the front bumper of the wifes 07 JK back in Oct 06 when we first got it, and they look as good today as the day I installed them. All sets are the flat black powder coat.

I recieved my replacement lights wednesday and installed them today. Here are the pics i took.

Maybe lights shouldn't rust at all, but i live in ohio and i'm used to everything rusting with time. At least i know that KC stands behind their product and is a pleasure to deal with.

I put a gasket between Everything** on this set hoping to prevent this from happening again.
