Default Light Install

I've ordered a pair of KC SlimLites for my Pre-Runner bar. In the past I've stayed away from installing anything electrical. However, it might be time to change that. How hard are these light to install?

The hardest part about installing lights is running the wires in my opinion. should be an easy install as long as you understand the load, supply, earth concept which is on every 3 prong switch.

not sure on the exact set up of the lights but I am guessing it has a switch and relay, most of the light kits do. Not very hard to understand but as RANGER said running the wires is the most time consuming. Ground the relay and each light and the switch, power from relay to battery, wire lights to relay, relay to switch. Switch also needs a power whether it be straight battery or to your high beams, really your choice. Pretty simple just lots of wire . Good luck!

Well either way you go hope they work out good for you, but if you decide to do them yourself let me know if you need any help. I'm not an electrician or anything but i just picked it up from wiring some things in my old grand Cherokee and watching. Lights are simple. If you need help with the terms. A relay is just a little box that triggers the wires like a switch. Ground-just put a wire from the light or relay to a bolt on the frame. I actually enjoy doing it! lol

If you use the high or low beams to trigger the lights, you will (most likely) need to isolate the relay with a diode and a capacitor. Lots of info here on that. If it works with the engine off but not running, then you will have to use the cap and diode or buy devices to do that function. If you DO NOT use the headlights to trigger the driving lights, it's a non-issue.

My Grandpa is an electrician. I should have paid better attention to his instructions. Instead, I became an artist....
