light wiring?
So here's the question I put a smittybilt xrc stinger bumper on and lost my fog lights being that there is no slots for them. When I was was mounting my new kc apollo lights I thought well there are wires there for lights and a switch why not just splice into there with the new lights so when i was done they came on and i turned them off thinking everything was fine. Then I got in to leave where i was and turned them on and they would not stay on... just come on and turn off.
So could this be because the original fog light wires aren't letting enough watts come through or bad connections on my part. Please help all you electricians out there.
Sorry for the long explanation and thanks for any help.

From what I read any aftermarket lights need a wiring harness of Their own because they draw to much power Md the computer will then shut them off on factory wiring. I just installed my xrc today with mopar replacement oval foglights.
Probably too much wattage for the stock switch. You need to wire the lights to the battery and you can use the factory lights to trip the switch. I have a thread saved I'd link if I weren't in my phone that shows the diagram. Search the electrical section and you might find it. It's pretty easy to do.

sounds good i have switch room I was just trying to save time and giving myself an extra switch on my panel but I guess I'll have to do it the long way thanks for the help look for that post.
Crazy idea and I would look more into it if you were me. But if you get a .24 ohm resistor and put it in series with a line from a rely you can use the fog light switch to turn those lights on. You use the resistor to replicate a light bulb for the resistance so you don't have an open circuit. I'm a civil engineer so defiantly look into it more.

This is the thread with the diagram on it that I used. Also helped a friend do the same using the same method. I'm pretty sure the white/red is the switch wire you tap into in order to use the factory switch, the rest of the wires run to the battery and from the relay.

Install the power wires just like I have described. But connect to power LAST.
Step 1
Install the power circuit of the new harness.
Red #10 awg from battery to relay terminal #30 ( with inline fuse holder). Red #14 awg wire from relay terminal #87 to light "A". Black #14 awg wire from light "A" to ground. Red #14 awg wire from relay terminal #87 also to light "B". Black #14 awg wire from light "B" to ground.
Step 2
Install control circuit.
This is for the "Auto / Manual" control. You will need to purchase a 3 position switch ( on / off / on ).
Red #18 awg wire from M8 fuse holder to terminal #1 ( bottom ) on the switch (You will also need an inline fuse holder for this conductor). Red #18 awg wire from terminal #85 of relay to terminal #2 ( middle ) of switch. Red #18 awg from OEM fog light wires ( 12v positive wire ) to terminal #3 ( top ) of switch. Black #18 awg wire from terminal #86 of relay to ground.
Function
Switch up ( automatic ) - Foglights function based on OEM design.
Switch middle - Foglights always off
Switch down - Foglights function anytime the key is on.
Just ask if you need more help.
