Default Lighting Problems!

I have a 2008 JK and got rid of factory front bumper and got a smittybuilt bumper. Can I hook up running lights to the leftover foglight wiring that is tucked away under bumper? And if so what is the size wattage lamps will work without blowing fuses? Also do I have to splice wires are do they make a adapter to plug into leftover wiring? When I had my pro comp 55 put on Smitty they just wired them to a separate switch that they put under console.Dont know why they didn't hook to foglamp wiring?

I believe that the OEM foglights for your year - model Jeep are something like 42 Watts. Most, if not all aftermarket lights are 55 watts or larger. You can use the OEM fog light circuit to power any aftermarket lighting you choose. But you have to use the circuit to power the relay of the aftermarket lighting. And, as far as I know, none will be plug and play.

I re-used the factory foglights with some 3" pvc and they work great!

I have been running a pair of Hella Black Magic 55 watt lights off my OEM fog light circuit for several months now without issue (I use every day). If yours give you issues or wanted to run a higher wattage light you could always wire up a relay and then use one of the positive wires from OEM fog circuit as the signal wire to the relay.

I have a 2008 and was able to directly use 55w Hellas in place of the factory lights without any issues. Simply cut the connectors and added the new lights.

Hello
You have anymore pic of your lights? I beleive Iam going to do that. I would like to see how you insert it in pvc and take a look at back part of light. Will you explain how you did it and what was use to mount it also.
GREAT IDEAL!!
Thanks

Unfortunately I don't have any other pics. It's pretty easy though. Just take your fog lights out of the black plastic casing. Take the fog light with you to your local hardware store to make sure you get the right size pvc pipe. There are some little plastic tabs around the edges that you have to grind off in order for it to fit flush. You can use a dremel or sandpaper. Paint the pvc with some spray paint (make sure you rough up the pvc first or the paint won't stick). Put the fog light in and put 3 small screws in around the edges (make sure they are short enough to not poke through). Put a bolt through the bottom to go into your bumper. Plug 'em in and your good to go. Sorry I couldn't get better pics but then I would have to go take them apart and I'm too lazy. It's really easy and it helps with the dismal JK lighting. as far as the back goes it is just the open end of the pvc. Not weather proof at all but shouldn't be a problem.
