Default Lock Mechanism ?

I have located a 2008 Rubicon in the color my wife wants. The only option she wanted that it doesn't have is the power convenience group. She doesn't care about the power windows but would like remote entry. My question is to anyone who has removed the door panel on a JK. Does the lock mechanism use steel rods or cables. The reason I'm asking is because I have been installing electronics in vehicles for over 20 years and if the jeep is still using steel rods, I can install aftermarket lock motors and she will be good to go. If they use cables, its almost impossible to install aftermarket lock motors. Any input would be appeciated since I will just have to order one if I can't install this feature. Thanks

I have not looked inside the door, but the parts book shows CABLE, Inside Lock To Latch.
Also: CABLE, Inside Handle To Latch, and LINK, DOOR LOCK CYLINDER
TO LATCH, and LINK, Outside Handle To Latch,
Front Door
