Default Remote wire for Amp??

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me which wire they spliced into to run the remote lead to an After-market amplifier. I've never hooked an amp up to a stock stereo, so any advice would help. Thanks in advance.

Default Remote Amp Line

Hey man- All you gotta do is pop the bottom panel by the shifter off, then remove the dash face- and you can attach the remote line to the hot lead of the KEYED cig. jack. By doing that you will only trigger the amp to turn on and off with the car. I just did that a few days ago, and works great.

No problem man, just be careful removing the panels, they scratch VERY easy. First, start with the top panel from the windshield side, it pops up on the windshield side and comes forward. Then pull off the bottom panel by the shifter- then just kinda pull all around and you'll get the tabs out to be able to attach the lead on there. Use a DMM to test the wires for Hot, but i BELIEVE that it is the blue wire... but not 100% sure

Thanks a lot... Did you tap in to the driver side or passenger side plug? I've never even checked to see if they both have power.

I tapped into the Driver side one- the passenger side is a "non keyed circuit" meaning that it always has power running to it (key or no key), so you wanna use the driver side one so it turns on with the car and turns off with the car. Best thing for the amp too is mount it under the passenger seat, worked well for me

Do any of you think it would be okay to tap into the cig power wire to power a LCD monitor and use as the remote wire for an amplifier? Or would that blow a fuse?

I am not sure- so I can't give you an accurate answer, but just think of how much of a load that will provide and what the resistance is going to be on the cig. if that were to be on there. Sorry not much more of a help- but just something to keep in mind.

Are there any other wires in the vehicle beside the cig lighter that turn off when the vehicle is not running? In the previous vehicles that I've owned I've always put the remote wire underneath the fuse for the radio w/o any problems. I haven't had a chance to look in the fusebox yet to see if there is a fuse for the radio. I do recall, (slightly), reading something about how there is not a fuse for the radio. I may be wrong though, (hopefully).
