Hey guy I know there's probably a few threads about speakers but I haven't really found what I'm exactly looking for. I'm trying to find some new speaker for my jk, but I don't just want a upgrade I want a noticeable difference. The speakers I'm looking at at the alpine type-Rs

These look cool and RMS is 110 which is a LOT, I really want some that will be loud even with the top off I just wanted some experience and also if wattage does matter? I've also looked at some digital designs for close to 500 bucks but only input 50 rms. And the sound rage and sensitivity is about the same. Just any suggestions would be great or what to look for.

 

75-100w RMS will be plenty loud with the top off.

 

Well you'll have to add an aftermarket amp as well. I have a kicker marine amp that puts out 60 watts RMS per channel and kicker DS components up front and coax in the sound bar.

On the amp, my gain is completely down. Literally on zero.

30 on the head unit is "top down doors off doing 70 and it's still giving me a headache" loud. I couldn't imagine 100 watts per channel pumping into my ears.

I think you're underestimating 75 watts rms. Especially from 88dB sensitivity and up

 

You can buy the best speakers on the market but if you don't have an amp to power them then your speakers will on sound as good as your headunit will allow. To get max potential from speakers you need to get an amp that closely matches the rms rating for the ohm load that your speakers run efficiently. For instance I have a 400x4 amp that runs 75x4 continuous power at 2 ohms to speakers that are 2ohm 75 watt rated

No I'm not. I know it CAN get loud, but I am talking about powering a set of speakers properly. For the best possible sound quality, accuracy and dynamic power, You want to provide as close to matching amount of power to which your speaker is rated. Under powering a speaker can introduce distortion and lead to speaker damage.

Sure you can get LOUD with the 15 watts a head unit produces, but once you turn it up past it's poorly powered capability, it will start to distort badly. It will continue to get louder, and the distortion is hard to hear especially with the top off, but you have a better chance of blowing a speaker that you do with 110 watts RMS into a 110 watt rated speaker.

 

Yea the amp I want is a Alpine 4x100 RMS at 4 Ohms so i think that would be a perfect match.
