Default Metra 70-6522 harness story

I am getting ready to install a stereo in my jeep(non Infinity). So i have read and researched that you DONT need the expensive harness (XSVI-6522) for the non infinity stereo. So i head out to an audio shop and go to pick up the harness and dash kit, tell the guy the I want a 70-6522 and single din dash kit for am 08 wrangler(99-6511) and antenna adaptor(40-EU10) and he says the harness wont work .

I proceed to tell the guy that IT WILL WORK, and he stops me and says "where will you get the accessory power from....by taping into the fuse block"....."your jeep will catch fire."

so i tell him I am going to use the cig lighter that turns on and off with the ignition. He then says " then your are going to start blowing fuses, if you run anything off the cig lighter(gps.ect.).

He then REFUSES to sell me the 70-6522 harness

So I have a dash kit and adaptor in my hand ($50_, tell him i guess i wont need these either from you since your a tool. and walk out.

I realize that if he installed the stereo it without the expensive(proper) adaptor, that he could be liable if something happened, but WTF is wrong with this guy. He lost out on like $100 worth of parts!!!!!

Funny part is i go to the place down the road and they say yep here ya go......Just tap into the cig lighter and all will be good LOL

I have installed 2 aftermarket stereos in my previous JK (along with 3 factory units) and on both those installs I used that same metra plug and spliced into the cig lighter. I would never go back to that place, cause they aparanty know very little about stereo install cause the power comes from the 12V+ and the 12V IGN wire is just a trigger like a relay. That is why lots of radios have much larger power wires on the constant. They suck. I think I payed $12 shipped for that plug on the net.
