Default MIC Install Problem...HELP

I'm trying to install a Coastaltech MIC in a 2008 Jeep Wrangler to no avail. The original sofware didn't have the "Enable JK VR/HFM" option in the engineering mode, so I upgraded the software to 9.807. Now the system has the option, so I enabled it, installed the MIC and the UCONNECT works but the MIC doesn't.

Any ideas on how to get the system to recognize the MIC? I've unplugged the power supply for hours and reconnected, reinstalled the software, pulled the software back to 9.715...still nothing.

Thanks!
Mark

Based on other threads I've read could be a couple things:

1) MIC is bad
2) Not quite connected properly. Double check the connection

I have the Mopar mic and so far so good

Double check the engineering screen. I made the change initially and it didn't work. Going back in it "apparently" changed back to "not enabled". Switched it to enabled and it worked like a charm.

Hope you get it working.

Cheers

I've unplugged that MIC about 20 times...I'm going to go get a Mopar Mic and just try it...very frustrating seeing everyone else get it working.

My mic is from them, and it acted up after about a month. They switched it out, and I haven't had any issues since!

Good luck...

This thread talks about having to do some minor solder work on the mic.

I would go with Sgt P's advice and have Coastal switch it out for a new one.

Hey guys, so I just got a MyGig with the Uconnect box and a microphone (thanks RubiconXL!), but im not sure about installing the microphone as it is currently not working, Do I plug it into the Uconnect box, or into the back of the radio? Anyway to test the mic itself? Thanks!

you got a REN?
No nav I'm guessing? (If RER, you shouldn't have a uconnect box, and it goes straight to the radio)
I think it would go into the uconnect box, but not 100% sure?
Try it there first, if it doesn't work, try it in the radio?

Good luck.

I've got the RER with nav, the uconnect box, and the cable that just plugs into the back of the radio for the mic. Do i not need the uconnect/bluetooth box at all? Is bluetooth built into the RER head unit? If so, thats probably my problem.

You do not need a Uconnect Module/Box for a MyGig. Could the box you're talking about be a Lockpick and not a Uconnect box?

Im pretty sure its the bluetooth/Uconnect box from the dealer, its got a factory sticker on it. I bought the mygig from a member here and it came with it, so its possible that i dont need it. Ill try removing the box tonight and see if the mic works plugged right into the head unit.

Heres everything I got: http://s187.photobucket.com/albums/x...t=100_1757.jpg
