While my Head Unit is hanging out of the dash at the moment, I looked at the "dash inserts" that I used. I got the part number.
Metra DDXR-6511 -- is the number that is printed on the sides of the inserts. I hope that helps.

I am glad that you found it useful. I am happy with my set-up. Mostly because I put an Alpine powered subwoofer in the back to really bring the bass alive.

I also thinks it is very cool that a Scottish JK found my info useful. My family heritage is Scottish, and am quite proud of it. While my surname is Scottish, its tartan is not really all that great; so, I have opted to use my grandmother’s name, McBeth. For my wedding and other formal events, I wear my McBeth kilt; non-formal events, I have three or four Utilikilts that are worn (you get a lot of looks and questions when opting to wear an unbifurcated garment in Southern California.)

Regards,

Ty....

disadvantages of living in scotland
1. its damn cold (and snowing already)
2. NO JEEP PARTS AT ALL (its sucks shipping stuff soooo expensive especially wheels, axles and bumpers)
3. we only get sahara no RUBICON 4dr model.

What Pioneer unit did you get?? how do you like how it works?
I'm looking at getting the Pioneer AVIC-F900BT or the Alpine IVA-W505. I have always had Alpine in my other rides but the Pioneer looks awsome to opperate.

i installed the pioneer F900BT works great but ive only had it for a few days so cant rele comment on reliability. only problem i find is that it has about a 40second start up time and with a rear camera thats not very good, however the installer said pioneer were trying to make a software download that would at least half that time. the ipod and bluetooth work great and the unit rele makes the sound a lot better than factory if you have the infinity( youll need the metra CHTO-03 harness which will provide everything it says apart from the signal for the reverse wire.) very pleased with it and it is llot better and cheaper than a mygig.

I am in the process of installing a new apline headunit right now and was curious if you could answer a couple of question on the metra harness for me?

Did you hook the ignition (red) wire from the alpine unit to the cig lighter and just cap off the red wire on the harness since it did not work?
Do you have an aftermarket amp? If so, my XSVI-6522 didn't come with a blue/white (amp turn on) wire even though he color code chart says it is suppose to have it but it does have the blue (power antenna). Did you hook the blue wire to the blue/white or the blue on the alpine?
Last one is what did you hook the orange/white (dimmer) wire to on the alpine harness?

Thanks!

Is there any way to actually pull that entire metal brace out of the back instead of cutting it?

Does it server any purpose at all?

I am thinking of picking up an IVA-W505 also, but don't want to end up cutting something out that actually does server some sort of purpose back there.

Very Very nicely done!

I used to love Alpine head units. I had a IVA-D900 in my USCAi SQ car (2K3 Stratus Coupe) and have a CDA-7998 in my SOLO2 Miata running a PDX4.150 and a set of Boston Pro 60s.

I've become concerned as of late because thier screens have lost quite a bit of resolution to accomidate the "click pulse" technology. Also, it seems Alpines become more concerned about making big front ends for the iPod than actually building a CDDA Transport device. But then again, this IS a Jeep and a noisy enviroment so I shouldn't be to picky.

I'd considered doing something similar when I ordered my Rubi but decided to go with the MyGIG due to the internal hard drive. I only hope once I get the rest of the sytem installed it sounds as good as I'm sure yours must! Well done lad!
