Well after almost 4 months of waiting I finally received my 08 Ruby UNlimited.. I opted not to get the Mygig.. but wish I would have. Where can I get one at????

 

Ebay, the dealer,...and occasionally one is for sale on this forum.

 

Make sure you get all the features you want.
Some "discount" units on ebay, don't have NAV, etc...

 

Get an aftermarket deck. They sound a lot better and have less problems, plus they are cheaper. I sold my MYGIG and Im glad I did. I love my Kenwood 7100.

 

I have looked at the aftermarket but still am interested in the mygig.. anyone on here have one for sale??

 

I'm curious. Why would you want the MyGig over an aftermarket unit? You can get a unit that does more, sounds better, has a better Nav unit, etc. for the same price.

I just need you to tell me the reasons why I made the right choice when I got the MyGig... PLEASE.

 

I really like the fact that I get the hard drive as well as a volume knob. as well as it is a factory unit .. I have had 3 aftermarket units stolen out of my TJ.. and does the aftermarket really sound better without upgrading and amp and speakers???

 

For the user the hard drive is ONLY for songs. You can add a few small pictures to use as a "picture view" which is really useless. You can not add video to the harddrive. There are after market units with hard drives. There are aftermarket units with a knob for volume. Some aftermarket units have hands free and bluetooth which the MyGig DOES NOT HAVE in the JK without aftermarket addons. They also have aftermarket units that look nearly identical to the MyGig. Also if you have a manual there are problems getting a DVD to play. You need an aftermarket unit OR a firmware update that is not available yet. The MyGig doesn't show actual traffic flow info with it's traffic info...only congestion, but the new update should be fixing that. I think most of the problems of the MyGig could be fixed with software updates. You can't pause a song from the hardrive... not sure about a CD. There are a few little "quirks" people complain about.

I'm not trying to tell you what to get...I just want to tell you about what I know about the MyGig... I wish someone did that for me before I bought it.

 

This may be a little off topic but can I add mygig to any wrangler I choose to buy at a dealership?
