Default MyGig

I've found a great deal on a MyGig system from someone that no longer owns their jeep..

I've got an 08 JK with the sing disc (non satellite) stereo.

Do I need to buy any additional hardware to get the MyGig to work??

Nope...it's plug and play.
I just replaced my 2007 RES unit with a 2009 REN MyGig (From a Dodge Ram) and it took all of 5 minutes.
LOVE IT!!!

That's not entirely accurate.

Depends on which MyGIG you bought. Is it a REN or RER? If it's a non-nav unit you'll need the Sirius antenna if you want satellite radio. If it's the nav unit, you'll also need a GPS antenna. You can also purchase the MyGIG uConnect mic from the dealer if you want to use the uConnect features.

I stand corrected.

I'd be really carefull and do your home work on the unit. Get part # and check it out with the dealer.

WTF? Hopefully what he's saying is he had an 08 MyGig put into his 05, because there was no MyGig for an 05. Did you see a picture of the unit? If it looks like a MyGig it should work as long as you have the high speed can bus version. Get a part number and post it up for confirmation.

08 MyGigs that work in a JK should have a part number:
5064400.. The .. will be 2 letters which will tell you what vehicle it came from.

If it's an 08 Ren Non-Nav it would have a part number:
5064245..

Yeah he said he bought it new from the dealer in Jan of 08.
My JK is an 08.
Is there a version of MyGig that will not work in an 08 JK that would have been sold around that time?
He says it has GPS navigation and has all the antennas.

To my understanding the MyGIG from the 300C/Charger will not work in the JK due to the CAN-Bus diffrences (Hi-Speed vs Low-Speed). Get a model number or part number off the radio ASAP.
